Amanda Gordon Dunn

February 04

Amanda Gordon Dunn is an artist based in Denver, Colorado. She received a B.F.A. in fiber from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD, where she received a presidential scholarship. In 2005, Dunn was awarded The Barbara L. Kuhlman Award, The Ira Basler, Jr. & Mary Basler Memorial Scholarship and The Dale Burton ’30 Scholarship in Fiber for her experiments with tension using synthetic fibers.

Since her graduation in 2006, she has been active in the Denver art scene exhibiting work at numerous galleries and juried exhibitions. Her solo exhibition, “Systems and Layers” at Pirate Contemporary Art represents Dunn’s past year of material research as well as her time spent in the metal fabricating industry. Dunn explores issues such as minimalism in contemporary design, gender and formalism. The complete outline of this work is described in the artist’s statement link above.
